Implement Four-day School Weeks Nationwide

The Issue

I am a student, just like millions of other children and young adults across our nation. I feel the pressures of school. Simultaneously, I mourn the evaporating time I have to spend with my family. Today, I speak on behalf of students like me who value their family time as much as their educational journey.

Schools traditionally keep students busy for five days in a week. However, the prospect of a four-day school week has been gaining attention lately. It offers a chance for students to recoup, replenish, and reconnect with their families, without compromising their academic achievement.

Studies have indicated that a four-day school week schedule does not lower academic success rates. In fact, the state of Colorado has about 30 percent of their districts observing a four-day week, and no significant drop in academic performance has been noted (source: Education Week). This signifies that reducing school days to four might not be as detrimental as feared, instead, it might bring forth a better balance in the lives of students nationwide.

Not only does this proposal have potential academic merits, but it also supports the mental and emotional well-being of students by providing a longer window for 'downtime'. It harmonizes the need for quality education and quality time with family, which is a crucial part of nurturing a child's overall development.

Won't you consider the benefits of giving students an extra day to spend with their loved ones while still promoting potent educational growth? Support us in overhauling the traditional five-day school week. Sign this petition now to take one step towards a more balanced, harmonious, and fulfilling student life. This is why we should have school for 4 days a week instead of 5 so that we can spend more time with family and still get a good education in school and kids won’t experience fatigue like they do with 5 days a week so please sign my petition to let kids have more fun in school and be less stressed
