I, along with my family and considerably a large number of friendly neighbors, reside at Surf City Beach Cottages LP and we are visibly distressed by the treatment we receive. This is not just a matter of personal discomfort, but a call for equity and change that ensures a better future for all residents.

We have faced increasing issues such as lack of consideration towards tenants, open discrimination, deformation of character, harassment and absolute unprofessionalism from the management and their maintenance team. Even rodent infestations they continue to keep denying. Not only are these acts morally unjust, but they are also a violation of our basic human rights and breaches of tenant-landlord agreements. 

An alarming concern is the impact they've had on the health of the families residing here. There have been incidents of personal injuries and severe health issues which can be directly linked to inhabitable living conditions that we've been subjected to. There’s ample evidence that poor housing conditions contribute to health problems such as infectious diseases, injuries, and mental health issues (World Health Organization, Housing and health guidelines, 2018).

Furthermore, we have witnessed fraudulent activities like corruption upon lease agreements. This means families coming in with the hope of a comfortable living space are instead faced with an unethical and deceptive living situation.

Immediate measures embracing fair and ethical management, proper maintenance, and adequate living conditions should be taken into consideration. We propose an independent thorough investigation into the violations and, if validated, proper legal actions and the implementation of strong tenant protection policies. For the sake of previous, current and future residents, we demand justice and pertinent changes.
