I am writing this petition out of a deep concern and love for XL bullies currently in rescue centers. These dogs, often misunderstood due to their size and breed, are at risk of being destroyed under current legislation. This is not only heartbreaking but also unnecessary as many of these dogs have passed temperament tests proving they can be safely rehomed.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 670,000 shelter dogs are euthanized each year in the United States alone. A significant number of these are pit bulls and other large breeds like our XL bullies. This statistic is alarming considering that many of these animals could become loving pets with proper care and understanding.

We urge the government to consider exemptions for temperament-tested XL bullies currently in rescue centers. Instead of destroying these good dogs, let's allow them to be rehomed following sensible legislation that takes into account their individual temperaments rather than just their breed or size.
