Implement Escalators and Lifts at Bandra Railway Station (East Side)

The Issue

Bandra Local Railway Station (East Side) is a crucial transit hub, serving thousands of daily commuters, including residents of Bandra East Assembly (Kherwadi, Kala Nagar, Behram Pada, MIG Colony, Bandra Colony, and Navpada), office-goers traveling to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), and long-distance travelers heading to Bandra Terminus.

Despite its importance, the station lacks basic accessibility infrastructure like escalators and lifts, making travel extremely difficult for senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, pregnant women, daily wage workers, and commuters carrying heavy luggage. The absence of such facilities not only causes inconvenience but also poses a serious safety risk.

There are currently four footbridges on the east side of Bandra Railway Station, yet none are equipped with a lift or escalator, making accessibility a major challenge for many commuters.

In line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 11 (to provide accessible and sustainable transport for all by 2030), we demand that the appropriate authorities take immediate action to install an escalator and lift at Bandra Railway Station (East Side).

This is not just a request—it is a necessity to ensure safe, dignified, and inclusive travel for thousands of people who depend on this station every day.

Sign this petition to urge the Ministry of Railways, Western Railway, and relevant authorities to prioritize this much-needed upgrade.

Together, let’s make #Bandra Railway Station more accessible, safe, and commuter-friendly!
