Implement Crosswalk Signals at Richmond Ave & NW 2nd Street, Richmond, Indiana

The Issue

Richmond, Indiana is home to thriving communities and many schools. Yet, at the intersection of Richmond Ave & NW 2nd Street, pedestrians, specifically schoolchildren, face immense danger due to the absence of crosswalk signals. With heavy traffic flow coming off the Richmond Ave Bridge, this intersection has become increasingly perilous. National data shows that over 60% of incidents involving pedestrians occur at non-intersections and the addition of crosswalk signals can reduce pedestrian injuries by at least 25% (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). By introducing crosswalk signals at this particular intersection, we can drastically increase the safety of our residents, most importantly, our children who use this intersection to get to and from school. Please join our request to the city officials to prioritize the safety of our children and our community. Implement crosswalk signals at the intersection of Richmond Ave & NW 2nd Street.
