The Issue

For many of us, the pickle ball courts at Overpeck Park are not just places to play a game. They have provided a setting where strong friendships have been formed. The feeling of camaraderie and belonging that we experience when we meet new people and engage in friendly competition in this beautiful park setting is second to none. For me, these pickle ball courts have become my favorite place.

However, our enjoyment of this invaluable community resource could be even better. Transforming the existing courts to concrete surfaces would significantly improve the quality of our games. It's well-documented that concrete surfaces promise better bounce and durability than many other commonly used materials. Incorporating this suggestion would ensure a more fair and enjoyable game for everyone involved.

In addition to changing the court surface, there's a demand to increase the number of courts available. The growing popularity of pickle ball is evident in our local community, and unfortunately, the current number of courts is insufficient for the volume of players. It's time that the park infrastructure evolves in accordance with the changing needs and preferences of its community of users.

By implementing these changes, we can foster a better environment for the sport, enhancing the overall park experience and encouraging even more people to take part in this enjoyable pastime. Let's promote positive community engagement and healthy recreation in Overpeck Park. Please sign this petition to convert the courts to asphalt and create more courts.
