Implement Comprehensive Verification Procedures For Home Ownership Transfers

The Issue

My personal journey with unauthorized transfer of home deeds started when my mother's home deed was falsely released to a sibling by Counts  Real Estate company staff Marla Hawkin released my deceased mother's home deed to a sibling without undergoing the necessary probate court process. My rightful inheritance was stolen, and justice was denied. Sadly, my story is not unique.

Often, homeowners fall victim to deed theft through fraud, facilitated by loopholes or lack of thorough verification processes in the county clerk's offices. This could be avoided with the implementation of an app-based comprehensive cross-verification process that ensures the homeowner is alive and informed about the sale. Such an application should also be required to check for death records to determine if a family member has legally obtained ownership through probate court proceedings.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, deed theft has seen a worrying rise in recent years, with homeowners losing their properties to fraudulent schemes. A comprehensive verification process could bring about a significant decrease in these fraudulent activities, ensuring homeowners' rights and preventing unlawful property transfers. This petition calls on the relevant authorities to introduce robust and effective verification methods during the transfer of home ownership. It is time to prevent fraud, close loopholes, and uphold justice for homeowners & heires like myself. Please, sign this petition and support our fight against deed theft.
