The Issue

Our family, like many others in the U.S. I hate to see food go to waste. We believe that unused food can be put to better use by creating compost for gardening or even donating it. This is why we are calling for the implementation of composting bins in all school cafeterias across The U.S. starting at my own school.

Food waste is a significant issue not only in our county but also across the United States. According to the U.S Environmental Protection Agency, more than 75 billion pounds of food goes wasted each year in America alone (source: EPA). By introducing composting bins into our schools, we can help reduce this figure and teach our children about the importance of sustainability and resource management.

Composting has numerous benefits. It enriches soil, helps retain moisture and suppress plant diseases and pests. Moreover, it reduces methane emissions from landfills and lowers your carbon footprint (source: EPA).

By implementing this initiative within our schools' cafeterias, we are not only addressing a critical environmental issue but also educating future generations on sustainable practices that will benefit them long after they graduate.

Let's work together to make a change that will benefit both our community and environment at large. Please sign this petition urging Schools to implement composting bins in all their cafeterias today!
