Implement Bullying Consequences at Mauriceville Public Schools

Implement Bullying Consequences at Mauriceville Public Schools
The Issue
My 2nd grade daughter was inappropriately touched by a boy in her class! My son has never been in a fight or talked bad about anyone! A bully harassed him until he was so fed up he tried to fight him and lost horribly! He was punched in the face twice and humiliated in front of the whole class. He was denied a phone call home, he was suspended for 3 days and i didn’t even find out until he came home on the bus! The vice principal said “looks like you got some of your punishment already!” I asked for a meeting before this happened and was denied! I’ve left countless voicemails that go unanswered! My son would fake asthma attacks by wheezing and breathing heavy just to be able to call me and go home! The nurse called cps on me for medically neglecting my child because he continued to do this to escape bullying from the students and staff!
Many students and parents have been through similar situations and unimaginable circumstances that are happening the most in elementary!
Every child deserves a safe learning environment, including my own who attend Mauriceville Elementary School. Tragically, our experience has been far from safe. From constant harassment to physical violence, our children have faced a barrage of hurtful and cruel behavior from their peers. They have been punched, called vulgar names, threatened, touched in inappropriate ways, and mocked for issues they can't change.
This petition is not just about our family. It's about the wellbeing and safety of every student in the school. Bullying poses a significant threat to the emotional development and mental health of our children. Research indicates that bullied children are at greater risk of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and poor school performance.
To protect our children, we propose a 4-step disciplinary process.
First-time offenders will participate in a meeting with their parents, the principal, the victim and their parents to discuss the serious implications of their actions.
Second-time offenders should be on in-house suspension for 3 days.
If a student offends for a third time, police will be involved and possible counseling to understand why they feel the need to continue this unacceptable behavior.
Fourth time offenders will be expelled.
The time for leniency is long gone. We must prioritize the safety of our children and encourage a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying at Mauriceville Public School. Please, sign this petition for the sake of our children's wellbeing.
Having said that, certain staff members and faculty are guilty of demonstrating the same behavior and should be held accountable by resigning or being removed from the district as well. Children mock what they see and this is not a positive learning environment for our future generations.
