Implement Bird-Safe Windows in Existing Skyscrapers

The Issue

Our love for birds and wildlife compels us to voice our concerns about the high mortality rates among birds due to collisions with skyscrapers' glass windows. This is more than just an ecological issue; it's a personal one, as it deeply hurts us to see these innocent creatures suffer and die. Statistically, an estimated  230,000 birds die annually in NYC due to building collisions, according to a study conducted by the American Bird Conservancy. It is critical that our urban landscapes shift towards more bird-friendly designs. Retrofitting our skyscrapers with bird-safe windows can drastically decrease bird fatalities. Installing patterns on glass, making it visible to birds, has been proven to prevent a significant amount of these heartbreaking incidents. We demand that property owners and city planners prioritize the use of bird-friendly materials and designs in existing infrastructure as an urgent necessity. Please stand with us in our fight to safeguard bird populations. Sign this petition to urge decision-makers to intervene and make our skyscrapers safer for birds.
