We are a dedicated group from Wrexham, UK, who feel a notable absence in our digital communication – a finger wagging emoji. This is not only a personal need but it resonates with many of us who find the current range of emojis insufficient in expressing our emotions.

A finger wagging emoji is a universal symbol that could be used to express disapproval, admonishment, or playful teasing. More so, a study by Vyv Evans, a former professor of Linguistics at Bangor University, shows that 72% of 18-25 year olds find it easier to express their feelings with emojis than through words.

Despite the yearly addition of new emojis by the Unicode Consortium, a finger wagging emoji has yet to make the list. With over 3000 emojis in circulation, it is surprising that such an expressive gesture is not represented.

With this petition, we appeal to the Unicode Consortium to recognise the need for a finger wagging emoji and to add it in the upcoming revisions. Add your voice to ours.
