Implement an Effective Coyote Management Solution in Corrales

The Issue

I am a resident of Corrales, witnessing in horror as our neighborhood is besieged by an escalating coyote problem. Recently, my dog was attacked in broad daylight while in our fenced yard, even in the presence of people. This incident sums up how fearless and audacious these coyotes have become. My cat has also tragically fallen victim to these predators. These instances are not isolated. Several others in Corrales have had to nurse the loss of their pets and livestock to coyotes, exposing a significant lapse in our existing Coyote Management Plan.

Statistics indicate that reliable coyote management strategies can reduce attacks on pets by up to 90%, which speak volumes about why Corrales urgently requires a more competent approach (Humane Society, 2021). Reviews and augmentations to existing strategies should be considered, including facilitating better wildlife education programs for the public, setting up accurate and prompt reporting mechanisms for coyote sightings or encounters, and exploring the possibility of installing fear-instilling mechanisms to keep coyotes at bay.

To protect our beloved pets and valuable livestock, we, the residents of Corrales, need urgent action. It is critical now, more so than ever, for the local administration to revamp the existing Coyote Management Plan and aim for a more effective, humane, and sustainable solution. Please sign this petition urging a change in the current approach and implement a proactive, effective coyote management strategy in Corrales.
