The Issue

As an animal lover with a lifetime of experience caring for my beloved fur-family, I have witnessed firsthand the critical need for stricter animal protection laws in Trumbull County. My volunteer work at two local animal shelters opened my eyes to the plight of many helpless animals who have been starved, abandoned, or physically abused. These shelters are all overflowing, struggling to save the lives of innocent creatures.

Trumbull County faces an alarming situation with repeat offenders who continue to mistreat animals without facing significant consequences. This ongoing cycle of abuse underlines the urgent need for a robust animal abuse registry. Such a registry would track abusers, acting as a preventive measure to protect helpless animals from future harm and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.

Other states and counties have already implemented similar registries and seen a decrease in animal abuse cases, proving that these measures are effective tools in the fight against cruelty. By adopting an animal abuse registry, Trumbull County would take a leading role in promoting animal welfare and fostering a community that actively protects its most vulnerable members.

We urge the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners to establish an animal abuse registry to deter potential offenders and prevent repeat offenses. This registry will work in tandem with existing laws to ensure justice for the voiceless victims of abuse and help alleviate the burden on local shelters.

Join me in advocating for a safer and more compassionate Trumbull County. Sign this petition to support the creation of an animal abuse registry, and help us make a significant difference in protecting our community's animals. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for all our furry friends.
