On September 30th 2022. my son and his friend became the victims of a random act of violence. An unknown criminal targeted them, leading to his friend getting shot. In the ensuing chaos, my son and another friend tried to rush him to the hospital. Tragically, they were killed due to a police pit maneuver - an aggressive technique used by law enforcement that has proven fatal in too many instances.

This heartbreaking incident is not isolated. It is part of a broader issue - teen violence and unwarranted police actions are plaguing our communities nationwide. We need stronger gun laws that can help prevent such senseless acts of violence from happening in the first place.

My proposal is AJ's Law - named after my son who lost his life trying to save another's. This law would focus on strengthening gun control measures and banning dangerous police tactics like the pit maneuver.

The loss we have suffered should not be in vain; it should serve as a catalyst for change so no other parent has to endure this pain again.
