The issue

As a resident of Sunshine North, VIC, Australia, I have seen how our local dog park has become an essential part of our community. It is a place where we can walk our pets and interact with fellow pet owners. However, the lack of proper lighting restricts us from using this facility after dark - which is often the only time many of us have available due to work commitments.

The implementation of adequate lighting in the park would not only extend its usability into the evening hours but also significantly increase safety for both pets and their owners. According to SafeWise, well-lit public spaces can reduce crime rates by up to 20% (SafeWise Report). This improvement would undoubtedly benefit all members of our community.

Furthermore, according to a study by Planetizen (Planetizen Study), well-lit parks encourage more physical activity among residents leading to improved overall health. By installing lights in our dog park, we could contribute positively towards the health and wellbeing of our community members.

I believe that this change will make a significant difference for all pet owners in Sunshine North who wish to enjoy their local park even after sunset. Please sign this petition if you agree that it's time for adequate lighting at our local dog park.
