Like many others, I and my friends use Duolingo to learn new languages. However, during the summer months, we often attend sleepaway camps where phone usage is restricted. This means we cannot maintain our daily streaks on Duolingo and risk losing progress.

Duolingo has over 300 million users worldwide (source: Forbes), many of whom may face similar situations - be it vacations, medical emergencies, summer camp, or other life events that require them to step away from their devices for extended periods of time. Currently, there is no available option within the app to pause or suspend learning progress during such times.

We propose that Duolingo introduce a 'Vacation Mode' feature, which would allow users to put their learning on hold without disrupting their streaks or progress. This would not only cater to the needs of Duo’s diverse user learning base, but also promote a healthier balance between digital learning and real-life commitments.

When I go to camp in the summer, I have to ask my friends to keep up my streak by giving them my account credentials. With this petition, I would not have to rely on others to do my work.
