As students and hardworking members of the Loudoun County community, we understand the pressures of balancing school or work with personal life. Our weekdays are filled with rigorous academic or professional commitments, leaving us with only two days to catch up on homework, engage in extracurricular activities, spend time with family and friends, or simply rest.

The current five-day school week is not only exhausting but also limits our ability to perform at our best.  A study by Stanford University suggests that productivity per hour declines sharply when a person works more than 50 hours a week (Stanford University).  By reducing the school week to four days, we can improve productivity while ensuring adequate rest and recreation time.

Moreover, several schools in Colorado have successfully implemented four-day school weeks showing improved attendance rates (National Education Association).  This indicates that such a change could potentially benefit both students' well-being and their academic performance.

Therefore, we urge the Loudoun County School Board and local businesses to consider implementing a three-day weekend system.  This change will not only enhance our quality of life but also boost overall productivity within our community.
