After going to school for long hours, the last thing anyone wants to do is be pushed, shoved, or squished during their commute home on the 611 bus. No one should fight for their personal space on a journey back after an exhausting day. We need a change in Pleasanton, CA. It has been observed that the single 611 bus currently running is not enough to cater to the commuting needs of our community. Riders resort to standing, compromising safety and comfort, due to the stark scarcity of seats. As per the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), overcrowded buses are not only uncomfortable but also pose potential safety issues. Therefore, we urge our school (Amador Valley) to request from the public transportation office to implement a second 611 bus afterschool. Also, if Pleasanton Middle School can have two 601 buses, why can't we, a high school, have two buses as well? This is not only about our comfort, but our safety and dignity are at stake, too. Stand together for a safer, more comfortable commute. Sign this petition!
