Implement a Pedestrian Crossing on Oxford Road Near Fairfax shops

Implement a Pedestrian Crossing on Oxford Road Near Fairfax shops
The Issue
Every day, we make the precarious journey across Oxford Road, near Hazel Walkway and the Fairfax shops, leading our little ones to Edward Feild school. It is an integral part of our routine, one shared with countless others. This seemingly simple act, however, has become fraught with danger due to the absence of a safe crossing. Currently, Oxford Road is a buzzing artery of traffic with no proper provision for pedestrians to cross safely between Sainsbury’s and Gosford Hill school.
In the UK alone, there were 20,160 pedestrian casualties in reported road traffic accidents in 2019 (source: Department for Transport). This statistic is alarming, and emphasises the pressing need to put necessary measures in place. A pedestrian crossing on Oxford Road would not only make it safer for us and our children, but also for the many others who traverse this path daily.
We firmly believe that the provision of a pedestrian crossing is a basic right, essential to the wellbeing and safety of community members, such as ourselves. This urgent call to action could save lives and ensure the safe transportation of pedestrians, particularly those most vulnerable, like our children. We urge the responsible authorities to take immediate action to address this situation, enhancing safety on Oxford Road by implementing a pedestrian crossing near Hazel Walkway. Please sign this petition to invoke change and facilitate safer journeys for all.
