I am a lifelong resident of Gorton, Manchester and I am deeply troubled by the recurring accidents and fatalities that have occurred near the Far Lane crossing on Hyde Road. These tragic incidents could be easily prevented with the installation of a pedestrian crossing equipped with traffic lights. Our community is in dire need of this safety measure to protect pedestrians and reduce traffic-related incidents.

According to data from the Department for Transport, in 2019 alone there were 25,975 serious injuries in road traffic accidents reported to the police in Great Britain. This statistic is not just a number - it represents real people whose lives are affected by such incidents. We believe that our local council has an obligation to take action against this issue.

By installing a pedestrian crossing at this location, we can significantly decrease the risk of accidents and ensure safer passage for all who traverse this busy road daily. The wellbeing of our community members should always be prioritized above all else.
