Implement a Noise Curfew for Fireworks in Residential Areas
The Issue
I am a parent of a small baby who sleeps early and is easily disturbed by the loud noises of fireworks. Each time there's a firework, my child jumps awake in fear. Not only that, but our little cat also suffers, running scared around the house trying to find a safe space. This situation has brought us much distress and we believe it's time for change.
Fireworks are not only disruptive to our family life but also pose potential health risks due to noise pollution. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels can potentially cause hearing damage over time (source: WHO). Fireworks often exceed this level, reaching up to 150 decibels.
Moreover, pets are known to have more sensitive hearing than humans. The loud noises from fireworks can cause them extreme stress and anxiety (source: American Veterinary Medical Association). Our furry friends deserve consideration too.
We propose implementing a noise curfew on fireworks in residential areas after 7 PM local time. This would allow residents and their pets some peace during the night hours while still allowing for celebrations during reasonable times.
Please join us in advocating for this change that will improve the quality of life for families and pets alike by signing this petition today! This is something that really needs to be pushed for the safety of animals mainly ❤️ thank you.
