Data centers consume vast amounts of resources, from electricity to water, and they do not match the agricultural fabric of our landscape. Furthermore, their construction and operation pose threats to local ecosystems, potentially leading to adverse changes like increased noise pollution, heat output, and strain on our power supply.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, data centers are among the largest consumers of electricity across industries. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns of the massive water footprint these centers can leave behind. These facilities often rely on diesel-powered backup generators during outages, which can emit harmful pollutants and degrade our air quality.
