Implement a Free Ombudsman System to Combat Veterinary Negligence

The Issue

The loss of a pet due to improper medical practices is nothing short of heartbreaking. This appalling experience is my own reality. My loving and innocent dog passed away after she was not given antibiotics when she was suffering from sepsis. The vet mentioned they were unsure which antibiotics to administer and would look it up, however, 9 hours later, my dog was given only calcium supplements. Without the much-needed antibiotics, she suffered throughout the night, being poisoned by sepsis and enduring sheer pain, without any sedation or pain relief.

Instances like this reflect an unacceptable level of negligence in our veterinary system, a system in which the word of the vets seems to overrule any organization that is there to support us pet owners. The right to our pets' health and well-being appears to be in question when vets can verbally admit negligence but will only officially admit to such cases on the instruction of an expensive solicitor. Without command of financial resources, many victims of this negligence have no recourse.

This infuriating reality is why we are seeking the implementation of an Ombudsman service for pet owners, free of cost and separate from the biased authority of vets. This service will provide a safety net for pets and their owners, ensuring accountability in these life and death circumstances. By doing so, we can start to address the balance of power between vets and pet owners and provide a fair and equitable process that prioritizes the health and welfare of our pets.

Then they hand your bill over to a debt collecting agency. They had previously offered to reduce my vet bill if i don't take it any further this is admitting liability isn't it?

It's time to fight for those who can't. Please, sign this petition and help us protect our pets from potential medical negligence.
