The Issue

In our neighborhood, the dangers posed by the two-way stop sign at the intersection of Arden Ave. and Date st. In San Bernardino/ Highland Ca, Road have been a persistent concern. Each year, several accidents unfold at this intersection that should undeniably have a four-way stop to ensure safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

I have personally witnessed the aftermath of these accidents and the confusion that this intersection causes. Cars travel at significant speeds as they approach the stop signs, leading to frequent misunderstanding about who has the right of way. This becomes especially dangerous because the area's population has expanded enormously, with a notable increase in traffic from the nearby casino.

The two-way stop simply cannot accommodate the current traffic volume, escalating the risk, especially during peak hours when drivers misjudge gaps and attempt to cross or turn without the appropriate signal. This miscalculation often results in collisions which place innocent lives at risk.

To rectify this hazardous situation, implementing a four-way stop at this intersection is a necessary measure. This change would not only guide traffic more effectively but also reduce accident rates and enhance the overall safety of our growing community. A four-way stop would alleviate the guesswork currently forced on drivers, ensuring clearer right-of-way instructions.

Traffic studies in similar growth areas have proven that conversion to a four-way stop significantly decreases accidents. Unfortunately, without intervention, more incidents will continue to occur at Arden ave.. and Date st. posing an ongoing threat to residents and visitors.

We are calling on local officials and the Department of Transportation to conduct an immediate traffic assessment at the Arden ave in Date st.  intersection and take the necessary steps to make this change. With the community's well-being at stake, taking action cannot be delayed.

Help us make this critical change by signing this petition. Let your voice be heard and join us in advocating for a safer, more responsible traffic solution for our neighborhood.
