Implement a Dedicated Skatepark in Nacogdoches, Texas

The Issue

Like many young individuals in Nacogdoches, I am an avid skateboarder, but my ability to practice is often challenged by limited areas designated for skateboarding making the experience less enjoyable. Whenever I feel the urge to skate, I find myself in either a tennis court or basketball court. However, these places are mostly occupied by enthusiasts of those respective sports, making it hard to freely skate without interfering with their activities.

Nacogdoches, Texas, despite its rich culture and history, lacks a notable area dedicated solely to skateboarders. It's time we address this issue, improve our community sport facilities and cater to the varied interests of all athletes in the region.

In the United States, approximately 6.4 million people actively participate in skateboarding. With this figure, it's clear that skateboarding isn't just a fringe sport, but a widely appreciated fun and recreational activity. Therefore, providing a safe and accessible space for skateboarders in Nacogdoches isn't a luxury, but a necessity. To create a more inclusive community for all athletes, we demand a skatepark that caters to the interest of skateboarders.

Skateboarding, when practised in a safe and supervised environment, not only promotes physical activity amongst our youth, but also encourages creativity and resilience. It's time we provide that space for the vibrant and engaged skateboarding community in Nacogdoches.

Let's signal our local government bodies with this petition that a dedicated skatepark is something that we not only want, but need. It is important that every sport is recognized and given its fair support within the community. We are not asking for much, just a place to call our own, a place to skate.

Sign this petition and let's roll towards creating a skatepark in Nacogdoches!
