Implement a Cap on Exorbitant Veterinary Fees

The Issue

Our beloved 10-month-old puppy, Reggie, tragically passed away over the Christmas period following a severe reaction to a gastro virus. Despite our best efforts and visits to various veterinary practices - from his regular daytime vet to specialists and emergency out-of-hours services - we were unable to save him. In less than seven days, we spent an astonishing £14,000 in an attempt to save Reggie's life.

The charges imposed on us by these practices (particularly the emergency vet) were shocking and included exorbitant fees such as £16.79 for each injection and £22 for just 200ml of food. We quickly exhausted our insurance within a couple of days. The financial burden added significantly to the emotional distress of losing our dear pet.

This is not just about us or Reggie; it's about all pet owners who face these astronomical costs when their pets fall ill. It's time for change.

We are calling on lawmakers and regulatory bodies in the veterinary field to introduce a cap on veterinary fees. This will ensure that no pet owner has to choose between their financial stability and their pet's life due to unreasonable costs.

Please sign this petition if you believe that caring for our pets should not lead us into financial hardship or debt; if you believe that love for our pets should not be exploited by excessive charges; if you believe in fair treatment for all pet owners regardless of income level.

Your signature can make a difference – it can help bring about much-needed change in the regulation of veterinary fees so that no other family has to endure what we went through with Reggie.
