As a Parish Councillor for the peaceful village of Bidborough, I have witnessed an alarming increase in traffic and speeding through our community over the years. The B2176, which runs through the heart of our village, has become a hazardous route for both drivers and pedestrians alike. The older generation and children need to feel safe in their own village. We require immediate action to regulate this situation.

We are calling for a 30 MPH speed limit restriction on the entirety of the B2176 through Bidborough's centre. This measure is not just about reducing speed; it's about preserving our community’s safety and tranquillity.

In addition to this speed limit restriction, we also urge for traffic calming measures to be implemented. These could include road narrowing, chicanes or speed humps - anything that will effectively slow down vehicles passing through our village.

Most importantly, we request a crossing point be established for residents and children to safely access amenities in the village. Our community should not live with fear when simply trying to cross the road.

We do not want to wait until a serious accident occurs before something gets done about this issue. According to Road Safety Facts (2019), areas with enforced lower speed limits have seen up to 40% reduction in road accidents.
