On Tuesday the 14th of November the Parish Council met, on the Agenda and hot topic was the 20mph speed restriction. Following this petition and face to face comments with residents regarding how they felt about the speed of traffic, I was able to relay these concerns to the council. Focus was on not statistics or data it was on feelings and well being of the residents. That we should not be blinded by other regions success or failure of managing speed but mindful on how we tackle our own issues which are unique to us. The council discussed the issue and agreed unanimously to formally approach the County Council on their new initiative to make it easier for local communities to secure 20 mph speed limits. Next steps!! Firstly please let’s stand by our desire and drive at 20mph in the village. Over 100 people already in agreement so we can make a big impact on creating a more socially acceptable speed, so let’s keep to it. You will slow others down, keep people safe and happy to share the road space with cars. �� Secondly- We are not there yet, we will need your help again when the Parsish council request your comments or vote on this matter. Please don’t be silent we must rally together to show a clear majority are in favour. Don’t be silenced by the noise of the few that are in objection to speed controls.
