Implement a 10-Minute Load and Unload Zone at the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club

Implement a 10-Minute Load and Unload Zone at the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club
The Issue
As a concerned parent and member of the Edmonds community, I deeply care about the safety of our children. The Edmonds Boys and Girls Club is a significant part of our community, providing important programs and services for our children. However, the absence of a designated loading and unloading zone creates a chaotic, unsafe environment during the busy times of drop-off and pick-up.
There are no appropriate spaces available, forcing parents and grandparents to park in unsafe places, on narrow roads or too far for a child to walk, especially under weather conditions. Other cities around the country have recognized the importance of drop-off zones in front of clubs and schools, and have implemented measures to ensure a safe environment.
The American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus highlights that pedestrian injuries can be reduced by safe road behaviors, which includes drop-off and pick-up at safe locations.
Hence, we propose securing a 10-minute load and unload zone in front of the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club. This will not only ensure the safety of our children but also ease the stress on parents and caretakers during these hectic times.
Thus, we are calling on the city officials of Edmonds to take immediate action for the safety of its future generations. Sign the petition to make a change for our community.
