My dog Elle, age 7, died unexpectedly this summer.  She was diagnosed with Pneumonia locally, and were told that we needed to take her to a 24 hr care facility.  With no options available in the Northwoods, our only option was to drive to facilities well over 1 hr from our home.  Once to the facility, we learned that she would be #13 in line based on other pets that were unfortunately in critical condition. She wasn’t even assessed until 5 hrs after admitting her. The next morning, we woke up to the gut wrenching call that Elle wouldn’t be coming home.

This experience alerted me of the need for 24 hour pet care here in the Northwoods of WI.  Our pets are family and deserve the best care available, whenever the need may arise.

By introducing this care in the Minocqua/Rhinelander/Eagle River/Tomahawk area we can better safeguard the well being of our pets. One vet doesn't have to cover it all, perhaps many could figure out a way to provide the service throughout our communities in which we live on a rotating basis. If you feel the same, I would ask that you please sign this petition and forward along to other pet lovers in our communities.  I am well aware something like this cannot be completed overnight and will instead take time but sharing our concerns will help get word out! Once again, I know there is a lot of time, energy, costs and other factors that need to be figured out but having this petition can show some concern and maybe start a movement.
