I am a resident of Las Cruces, NM and have experienced the heartbreak of losing beloved pets due to lack of round-the-clock emergency veterinary services. The pain is unbearable when you know that these losses could have been prevented with timely medical intervention.

Las Cruces is a community that loves its pets , and with acknowledgment that our current veterinary practitioners provide stellar and dedicated care to our pets , we must admit that 24/7 care is beyond their financial capacity. This gap in service has led to unnecessary suffering and loss within our pet community.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), one out of every three pets will require emergency veterinary treatment every year. With over 30,000 households in Las Cruces owning at least one pet (based on AVMA's estimate that 57% of households own a pet), this means potentially thousands of animals are at risk each year.

We need change now more than ever. We urge the local government and relevant authorities to establish 24/7 emergency veterinary services in Las Cruces, NM without exception. Our pets are family members who deserve access to life-saving care at all times.
