The Issue

To Whomever Represents Us,

We the People petition to you today as concerned citizens and constituents, compelled by a deep unease regarding the authoritarian direction in which our country is heading. The recent actions and rhetoric of the sitting President have crossed a dangerous line—one that threatens the very fabric of our Constitution, the rule of law, and the rights we are guaranteed as Americans, citizens and non-citizens alike.

Specifically, we are alarmed by any suggestion or move toward invoking Martial Law within the United States. Such an act is a grave overreach of executive power and a direct violation of our democratic principles. This country was not built to be ruled by decree or military force, and any attempt to subvert civilian rule in this manner mirrors the troubling precedent set by President Yoon in South Korea—an authoritarian maneuver that ultimately led to his ousting and disgrace. We must not allow the same path to be taken here.

Additionally, we are deeply troubled by the recent unwarranted military action against Iran, carried out without Congressional approval. This aggressive and unauthorized use of military force directly contravenes the War Powers Resolution of 1973, which limits the President’s authority to engage in acts of war without the express consent of Congress. Such reckless disregard for the Constitution and the separation of powers not only violates the law but also places the nation at risk, escalating tensions with Iran and setting a dangerous precedent for future military engagements. The President’s actions in this regard have undermined the role of Congress in matters of war and peace, a cornerstone of our democracy.

The checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution exist precisely to prevent this kind of abuse. If we fail to act now, we risk not only the erosion of our freedoms but the loss of our republic itself.

Therefore, we urge you—in the strongest possible terms—to fulfill your oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. We demand that you take the necessary steps to initiate Articles of Impeachment against the President for this blatant disregard of constitutional authority and democratic norms. The time for silence or political calculation is over. History will remember those who stood up in defense of liberty—and those who did not.

This is not a partisan issue. This is about preserving the foundational principles of our nation. We expect a response, and more importantly, we expect action.

Sincerely,

We the People
