Impeach Darlington County Superintendent Ferguson
The Issue
As students at Darlington County, we are the heart and soul of our school. Yet, with the new superintendent, Ferguson, our excitement and love for our high school experience are being diminished. It is personal to us because Ferguson’s decisions are directly affecting our day-to-day student life in ways that make us feel unheard and undervalued.
Ferguson has made alarming changes that neglect the student body's needs and accomplishments. E-learning days have been removed, which poses challenges for students who require flexibility in how they learn best. Additionally, senior privileges that were once earned through years of hard work have been stripped away. For seniors who have met their credit requirements, the right to leave school early is a well-deserved privilege, yet it has been unjustly taken from them.
Furthermore, traditional activities like HHS pep rallies, which have been the vibrant soul of our high school spirit, have been cut. These pep rallies aren't just about cheering; they are a time-honored tradition that fosters community and pride. Removing them impacts our school spirit considerably.
Sports players are also feeling the brunt of these changes. The right to leave early for games has been curtailed, forcing athletes to choose between academic responsibilities and extracurricular passions. This important balance is crucial for the development of well-rounded students.
The decisions made by Ferguson are stripping the heart and identity of our high school, impacting not only student morale but also limiting our freedom to enjoy formative years in education. We believe that education should balance academics with enriching activities that foster growth, camaraderie, and lifelong memories.
We are calling for the impeachment of Superintendent Ferguson to preserve the traditions, privileges, and freedoms that we cherish and have rightfully earned. Every student deserves a voice in their education, a say in their everyday decisions at school, and the opportunity to make the most out of their high school experience.
Please support our cause to keep the spirit of our high school alive. Sign this petition to make the change we need!
