The Issue

Governor Okorocha's decision to erect a statue honouring the former South African President Jacob Zuma is against everything that the people of Imo, and Nigerians generally, stand for. To have a landmark celebrating a disgraced corrupt leader of another country is an insult to the tax payers whose money the governor squandered erecting the statue. This is an opportunity for the legislature of the state to show some decency and take down this disgraceful statue from our beautiful state. What would we tell how children and grandchildren why we have a statue of a disgraced corrupt former leader of ANOTHER country in our state. Do we want to continue to be a state, and quite frankly a country, that not only condones criminality but actually celebrates it. A corrupt leader belongs in jail not in our landscape. #takedownzuma
