Immediate Resignation of MP Andrew Gwynne and Denton councillors who commented on whats/ap
The Issue
Petition for immediate Resignation and or Immediate Investigation and Accountability for MPs and Denton Ward Councillors Involved in the "Trigger Me Timbers" WhatsApp Group
To: Tameside Borough Council ,The Home Office, Local Police Authorities, and Parliamentary Standards Commissioner .
We, the undersigned, call for a full, independent, and urgent investigation into the MPs and Denton Ward councillors involved in the "Trigger Me Timbers" WhatsApp group, where racist and sexist comments were allegedly made. Delays in addressing this misconduct are unacceptable.
We wish for the following action:
1. Police Investigation (Within 30 Days) – Law enforcement must immediately assess whether the comments constitute hate speech, misconduct in public office, or other criminal offences. A public update on progress must be provided within 30 days.
2. Parliamentary Standards Review (Within 45 Days) – The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards must open an inquiry into whether the MP(s) involved breached the Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament, with an initial report due within 45 days.
3. Council Accountability (Immediate Action) – Any Denton Ward councillors found to have participated in or condoned these offensive remarks must be suspended immediately pending investigation and dismissed if found guilty of misconduct.
4. Public Transparency and No Delays – The findings of these investigations must be made public without delay. Any failure to act within these timeframes will be seen as an endorsement of discrimination in public office.
Elected representatives must be held to the highest ethical standards. Racism and sexism have no place in public office. We demand swift and decisive action to restore public trust.
Sign this petition to demand immediate accountability.
It is important you understand labour are planning on NOT having local elections this May, so it is important to get the message home that resignation or removal is the option if constituents want different representation before 2026!
Recall can only happen under certain circumstances
