Thank you for supporting the Offshore Immigration Deterrent Proposal petition.
For a number of reasons we have not engaged with social media to date - however we shall shortly do so - on steroids! - NB: The image is an AI generated impression of the concept.
As we seek to build momentum, we want to share some detail on about how this proposal model works — starting with the migrant experience and how offshore processing offers a cost saving but lawful, humane alternative to the current unsustainable system. The project commenced in 2022 and therefore benefits from observing all the pitfalls and barriers that each political party has encountered.
The proposal has been exposed to countless ‘What If’ scenarios and with the benefit of thorough Risk Management Assessments we now have a robust and certainly timely proposal to hand with enhanced border security and substantial cost savings available to the taxpayer.
The sole barrier to success is the political will to address the apparent incongruency of the Home Office, who previously dismissed all ‘Offshore’ proposals out of hand in 2023. It recently became apparent that there is no ‘maritime expertise’ actually available ‘in-house’ at the Home Office. This seems regrettable for an island nation surrounded by rather a lot of sea.
🔹 The Journey Today for the migrants
After the 2025 summer ‘excess of migrant crossings, we now enter the ‘quiet period’ of inclement weather conditions and the inevitable casualties at sea. Whilst migrants risk crossing the Channel facing overcrowded dinghies, freezing conditions soon and exploitation by smugglers. Once (if) - intercepted or rescued, migrants enter a system when landed ashore that’s overwhelmed — with inland facilities stretched, legal claims delayed, and public trust and patience eroding along with unsustainable migrant support costs for the tax payer.
🔹 The Offshore Alternative
Under this proposal, migrants are intercepted in UK territorial waters and transferred to the stationed offshore processing vessel (critically outside of UK port limits), being safe and secure with a stabilised, safe pontoon for embarkation and disembarkation. Thorough initial triage processing is then carried out using all available identification procedures, documentation checks, medical checks and immigration procedures necessary to enhance border control on a 24/7 operational basis). The vessel is not a ‘detention centre’, but a legal buffer zone where initial and thorough assessment for admissibility to the UK can be made.
According to SOLAS a person being rescued must be brought to “a place of safety” not necessarily ashore (There is no time limit to this requirement). The migrant is not ‘detained’ but ‘awaiting clearance or refusal’ to proceed to the UK shore as a genuine refugee or if deemed inadmissible, in compliance with the ECHR, provided with humanitarian support until deportation is arranged, without ever actually arriving in the UK.
🔹 Why It Matters
A soft migrant entry into the UK by means of an irregular boat crossing becomes untenable for 99% of economic migrants.
The UK enforces maritime law without breaching humanitarian obligations.
Smuggling networks lose their business model and incentives — as asylum claims can only be claimed on UK soil – their desire to take advantage of the generous migrant support system available is not fulfilled.
Public confidence is restored through visible, lawful enforcement and migrant support costs are reduced by 90%.
The proposal model is equally applicable to the EU States with maritime borders in the Mediterranean and Atlantic – which is relevant to the progress of the UK model and being proposed to ensure eventual success accordingly.
🔹 What’s Next
In future weekly updates, I’ll share more about the vessel infrastructure, cost breakdowns, the offshore vessel location(s) researched, anticipated and how the model can be scaled for other EU states. For now, know this: the offshore approach is not about punishment — it’s about restoring order, protecting national security, saving lives, saving exchequer revenue, enforcing the law and enhancing Border Control with dignity.
