We, the undersigned, are writing to express our deep concern regarding the recent actions in the United Nations Security Council concerning the Israeli Genocide in Gaza, particularly the repeated vetos by the United States on the draft resolutions for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire since the beginning of the genocide.

The decision to block the resolution, which was supported by thirteen council members, including Algeria, is disheartening. A ceasefire is crucial to alleviate the suffering of civilians and provide immediate humanitarian aid in Gaza. The current situation, marked by extensive violence and the loss of innocent lives, demands urgent international intervention.

We understand the concerns raised by the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, regarding the potential impact on negotiations with Egypt, Israel, and Qatar. However, the Algerian-drafted resolution did not link the ceasefire to the release of hostages, which raises questions about the prioritization of immediate humanitarian needs.

It is our collective belief that abstaining or vetoing resolutions for a ceasefire implies an endorsement of the ongoing violence and collective punishment inflicted upon the Palestinian people. As highlighted by Algeria's U.N. Ambassador Amar Bendjama, a vote in favor of the resolution is a stance in support of the Palestinians' right to life.

We urge all diplomatic efforts to encourage the USA, UK, and France to reconsider their positions on future UN Security Council resolutions related to the genocide in Gaza. The international community must stand united in advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, ensuring the release of hostages, and providing humanitarian assistance to those affected.

The current proposal by the United States for a temporary ceasefire, linked to the release of hostages, is not enough to end the suffering the civilians have been facing and all the innocent loss of life that has taken place. We call for a swift resolution that prioritizes the immediate cessation of hostilities and immediate humanitarian relief.

Your support in conveying these concerns to the respective governments of the USA, UK, and France is crucial in fostering a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza. We believe that by working together, we can contribute to the promotion of lasting peace and stability in the region.
