Screening of Anita Movie in Original Cantonese in Singapore

Screening of Anita Movie in Original Cantonese in Singapore

The long awaited biographical film about Cantopop star Anita Mui will be released in Singapore theatres on 24 Nov. Unfortunately, like all Chinese movies, it will be dubbed in Mandarin instead of the original Cantonese track.
A preview screening organized by Singapore Chinese Film Festival was met with overwhelming response on the day tickets were released and have caused the booking website to be overwhelmed, showing that there is a huge demand amongst Singapore viewers wanting to watch the movie in its original Cantonese version. Due to the Covid-19 situation severely reducing the number of seats per screening, as well as the inability to travel to neighboring countries to watch the movie, would like to petition for IMDA and distributor Sony Pictures Singapore to grant a one time exception to allow this great movie to be shown in Cantonese.
The context of the movie, including the stellar performance by the lead actress (Louise Wong) who have trained hard to even mimic Anita's speaking accent will lose its shine when it is dubbed in Chinese.
Please allow screenings to be in Cantonese to satisfy the desires of Singapore viewers.
