BAN THE NETFLIX MOVIE "Cuties" that sexually exploits children
The Issue
NETFLIX is launching a new movie in September 2020 called "Cuties". The netflix description for this movie is: Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions."
This movie promotes the sexualisation of children by placing them in very compromisimg scenes such as flashing parts of their body, participating in sexualised dancing such as twerking (definition : dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.)
Those who have seen the movie describes a few of the more disturbing scenes as follows:
1. A 5 year old taking a turn on dping webcam ming
2. Close up shots of the breasts, bum and crotches of the girls aged 11 years old
3. 11 year old tries to take a picture of a young boy's genitals
The film claims to be about raising awareness about the hyper sexualisation of children. However, the images of these children engaged in sexualised dressing, exposing their private parts and engaging in inappropriate provocative behaviour is so horrific that it crosses into paedophilia.
Netflix in Singapore should not be allowed to add such a movie into its players which can be accessed by anybody. It will normalise such behaviour among young children and also provide free paedophilic material for those with such tendencies.
Netflix should not be allowed to dictate what Singapore's moral values are and unilaterally decide what the Singapore public is "ready" for.
