Illuminate Murray Park's Volleyball Arenas for Inclusive Play and Security

The Issue

As a park user and volleyball enthusiast, I share a story that touches many in our community. My group of friends, among others, is eager to play, but we are severely restricted by daylight's limits. Due to the lack of illumination in Murray Park's volleyball arenas, our time for enjoyment and physical activity is inherently short-lived.

This predicament doesn't just affect us; a similar sentiment is evident across the majority of the park's visitors. The lack of lighting not only limits our volleyball games, but it also becomes a security concern once darkness falls.

According to a 2011 study by the Department of Justice, well-illuminated public spaces can lead to a 50% decrease in criminal activity, reinforcing the importance of our petition (DOJ, 2011). It's essential not just for facilitating our play but for ensuring the safety of everyone who visits Murray Park.

We urge the relevant authorities to recognize this need and invest in adding lighting to the volleyball arenas at Murray Park. Such an addition would enhance community engagement by allowing extended playtimes and increasing the safety of the park after sundown. Join us in this cause, and help illuminate our beloved parks for a safer, more enjoyable community experience.
