I am a resident of Coeur d'Alene, ID, and a frequent user of our local skatepark. However, there is a glaring issue that needs addressing - the lack of lighting in and around the skatepark. This has been a persistent problem that affects all users who wish to use the park after sundown.

The courts right next door are well-lit throughout the night, providing safe conditions for those using them. It seems only fair that skaters should be afforded the same consideration. The absence of adequate lighting not only limits our time at the park but also poses safety risks due to poor visibility.

According to data from The National Safety Council (2017), approximately 50% of recreational sports injuries occur during evening hours when visibility is low. By installing lights at our skatepark, we can significantly reduce this risk and provide a safer environment for everyone.

We are not asking for much - just enough illumination to light up even just one section would make an enormous difference in usability and safety.
