Demand that Emerson College Negotiates with the Staff Union in Good Faith

The Issue

One year ago, the College asked the Emerson Staff Union to give up their retirement and commuting benefits because they were anticipating ‘catastrophic financial losses’ and we agreed. We sacrificed our benefits to save jobs. We also agreed to delay our raises until the financial outlook of the College was more clear. Now, even with record high enrollment, management still refuses to pay us our contractually agreed upon raises. 

We’re told the College can’t afford to fulfill its commitment, but they recently renovated ALL bathrooms in Ansin (a 13 story building!) and plan to spend tens of thousands of dollars on replacing already functioning WALL CLOCKS!

It’s disrespectful. This past year we’ve lost a lot of great employees who left Emerson. We’re now starting the school year understaffed, and burned out. We’re here to support students and faculty, and we LOVE Emerson. Many of us are alumni. 

But ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 


We ask that you stand with the Emerson Staff Union. Please sign our petition and let management know that you support the Emerson Staff Union, and you demand that they negotiate with the Emerson Staff Union in good faith!
