Halt The Closure of C4

Halt The Closure of C4
The Issue
The Community Counseling Centers of Chicago, one of the few remaining public mental health centers in the city, is being forced to abruptly close and discontinue the care of the estimated 10,000 patients it serves after 42 years of service. This loss will have an enormous negative impact on the lives of thousands as well as on the state budget and wellbeing of the city and its people.
C4 is asking the state for $1 million to halt the closure of their centers in order to help set patients up with after care, at the very least, as an alternative to discontinuing care immediately without providing direction for patients, leaving thousands of severely mentally ill people without guidance or options for receiving further treatment, medication, or care. With few remaining available options, many persons formerly served by the Centers will be forced to the streets, or potentially Cook County Jail to receive medication, as it is currently the largest public mental healthcare provider in proximity. The inflicted costs of this to the state will be far greater, both economically and socially.
This is an incredibly important and timely issue that speaks to many wider social issues within the city concerning the serious lack of available mental health care and recent severe cuts made to the Department of Human Services Division of Mental Health by Bruce Rauner and the state. PLEASE HELP SAVE THE PATRONS OF C4 AND OUR CITY!
