Prevent the use of ProctorTrack at Illinois State University

The Issue

ProctorTrack is an app recently purchased by Illinois State University that allows AI software to track your eye movement during exams, tests, and quizzes, while showing your instructor what you’re physically looking at on your own screen. ProctorTrack is set to be up and running by November 1st, 2020 through the use of instructional videos that will be distributed to students and faculty. The timeline in which ProctorTrack is set to release is problematic. It requires a new way of learning things, in the middle of a semester, where any wrong moves, mistakes, malfunctions, or any errors, could negatively impact a students grade, whether it be for one assignment or the final grade overall. This wouldn’t be an issue, however the deadline to unenroll in a class has passed, meaning if this has a negative impact on a students grade, there’s nothing that can be done. Lastly, students with ADHD, ADD, etc, will face challenges trying to keep their eyes in the same exact spot for 50 minutes or more. But ADHD or not, the verification for whether or not a student is looking away from the screen because they face an open window when they study (like me) or they are looking in a new tab, is seemingly impossible. Please sign this petition to stop this from becoming a reality at all, or at the very least, until next semester.
