Illinois Prisoner Review Board: Deny James Dumas Parole

The Issue

On August 21, 1975, 15 year old David Grinestaff was fatally shot during a robbery. James Dumas, who was out of jail on parole, was convicted of the crime and sentenced to 100-150 years for the senseless killing. Since 1983, after only serving eight years of this sentence, he has been eligible for parole every year or every three years. Thanks in part through letters and signed petitions, he has been denied each time.

In July 2020, Dumas will be up for parole for the 24th time. By signing this petition, you are asking the Illinois Prisoner Review Board to keep this convicted killer in jail and not allow him to come up for parole again for three more years.
