Illinois Unemployment Section 612 states that an employee that works for an academic institutions is not eligible for Unemployment benefits.

We the constituents of The State of Illinois. Hereby urge our state leaders to act now on behalf of non-academic employees by amending the Unemployment Act Section 612.

Therefore the Unemployment benefits are available for those employees that are affected by lack of work and/ or stoppage due to Winter and Summer break.

These employees are non-contractual employees and have no written agreement to return for the next Academic term.

These  Non-Academic employees includes: School Bus Drivers, School Bus Monitors and Foodservice employees. These positions are not guaranteed and are not paid all year round. Some of these employees are single parents with no means of properly caring for their families during lay-off period.

Benefits need to be made available to everyone. Some Unemployment Judges allowed some to receive benefits that was employed at the same employer with the same title. While other employees with same tittle and same employer was denied. The  law needs to work for everyone.
