Stevenson High School girls lacrosse faced Glenbrook South High School for the super sectional match on May 29th at the Lake Zurich stadium. The game was delayed due to a boys lacrosse game scheduled too close to the girls game. In the second half, GBS had 3 girls eliminated from the game due to an excess in yellow cards. The score was 13-11, in favor of GBS. With approximately 6 minutes and 40 seconds left in the game, everyone had to go inside due to lightening and thunder. IHSA ended up terminating the game prematurely and GBS moved onto the state semi-final. IHSA states this is because over 80% of the game had been completed. It takes 7 seconds to score a goal. The game was NOT over. It is demeaning to the hard work put in by the ‘losing’ team. Stevenson, and any team, deserve a proper ending.
