Slow Lorises deserve justice because they are living, breathing organisms that feel pain and are conscious beings. Us homo-sapiens are thought of as gods to other animals, and us gods have exploited our power in the most inhumane ways possible, for example, what seems like an innocent video showcasing this cute and lovable creature, has so much pain behind it.

Slow Loris have poisonous teeth. Meaning in order to be fit for sale, they have their teeth ripped out or cut. Usually with pliers, wire cutters, or cut off with nail cutters, without having anesthetics or antibiotics. This practice often results in infection, and 90% of these cases are fatal. Not only are these methods shocking, but when transported the Slow Loris are kept in cramped and dismal conditions. Infant Slow Loris are separated from parents meaning they are unable to clean themselves. They are extremely stress sensitive meaning they do not cope well in captivity. Once under an owner they often die from improper care and poor nutritions. Slow Loris are nocturnal meaning owners are usually not awake when their pet is. Unfortunately because of the popularised youtube videos featuring Slow Loris, they are commonly sold and traded, despite laws prohibiting this.

Deforestation, road construction, selective logging and slash and burn agriculture, all pose great danger to this species. Slow Loris face constant abuse through illegal trade markets, are hunted, and face serious threats to their habitats. We need to stop being complicit to the barbaric treatment of these animals. These illegal transactions should not be happening! How much suffering are we going to allow the Slow Loris endure, before we take action?
