Iligan Water Crisis: Frequent Interruptions Must Stop!
The Issue
To every Iliganon, every former resident, every friend of Iligan, and every concerned citizen around the world:
We are tired.
Iligan — the City of Majestic Waterfalls — is struggling with frequent water interruptions, sudden dry taps, and unreliable supply that have become a near-daily reality for thousands of families. What used to be occasional has turned into a constant burden. Residents wake up to no water, scramble to store what little they can get, buy expensive bottled or delivered water, and rearrange work, school, and daily life around an unpredictable system.
This is not a rare emergency. It is a recurring problem caused by aging and leaking pipes, sudden bursts, and system failures that leave large parts of the city without service — often with little or no advance notice. Major disruptions have repeatedly affected 15,000–20,000 households at a time. High water losses and intermittent supply continue to plague the city, even as people keep paying their water bills.
The human cost is real:
- Families struggle with hygiene and basic needs
- Students and workers face added stress and expense
- Small businesses lose productivity
- Daily life becomes harder than it should be
Water is a basic human right, not a luxury. Iligan should not be living like this in 2026.
This petition is open to everyone — whether you live in Iligan, grew up here, have family here, once lived here, or simply care about the city and its people. You do not need to be a resident of Iligan or even of the Philippines to sign. Your support matters.
We demand immediate, transparent action from the Iligan City Government, the Iligan City Waterworks System (ICWS), and national agencies (DILG, LWUA, COA):
- A clear, publicly announced timeline for systematic replacement of aging and leaking pipes and full network rehabilitation.
- Faster, transparent progress on the proposed PPP water improvement project (Project TUBO) with regular public updates.
- Monthly public reports on leak repairs, Non-Revenue Water reduction, budget utilization, and service reliability.
- Genuine consultation with residents and barangay officials — not just after another major outage.
No more excuses. No more broken promises. No more temporary fixes that keep failing. Iligan deserves reliable, 24/7 water service.
Please SIGN this petition, SHARE it widely, and invite others to do the same — whether they are in Iligan, elsewhere in the Philippines, or anywhere in the world.
The more signatures we gather from every corner, the stronger our collective voice becomes. Let’s push for the change our city desperately needs.
Water is life. It’s time Iligan gets the reliable supply it deserves.
