Add a class on Earth-based spiritualities to Iliff’s curriculum

The Issue

Earth-based spiritualities, like Wicca and other Paganisms, are the fastest-growing religions in the US, with over one million self-identified practitioners.[1] Society has begun to reflect this change in religious demographics, and some major retailers are even attempting (and failing) to cash in on America’s expanding Pagan population.[2]
Iliff’s community also includes numerous Pagan and/or Wiccan students, who have enriched our educations by sharing their Wisdom and sacred knowledge with us.
Paganism is here and growing every day, and the Christian population needs to learn about our Pagan friends and Neighbors.  To leave seminary ignorant of Pagan beliefs is to leave with a major gap in vital knowledge about our society and the future of Christianity.
With this information in mind, we respectfully ask for a class on Earth-based spiritual beliefs and/or Paganism, taught by or with someone who practices one of them. We believe such a class is necessary to ensure an inclusive curriculum, one of the foundations of the Iliff Community.
Respectfully,
The Iliff student community.
